Check out our lastest news story with Queen City News! This time for a story that’s a bit more personal but all the while still very important. The phrase “follow your dreams” gets tossed around a lot these days. This has been hard for me to do since I was a kid because my dreams always seemed a little too big.

For example, I remember a period of 7th grade where I was certain I was going to grow up to be a movie director. Or how earlier in life I wanted to be a naturalist on TV like Steve Erwin or Jeff Corwin.

I’m here to tell you that your dreams, no matter what they are, ARE NOT TOO BIG!! In fact, DREAM BIGGER!!! While I can say I’m definitely not a movie director, I’m about as close as I’ve ever been to doing what my explorer idols did. I mean, I literally get to play with bugs all day and sometimes it’s on TV!

Of course, I wouldn’t be able to do any of this without my sobriety. Dreams tend to not come true very often when the rest of your world seems to be closing in on you constantly. Not to mention it’s pretty hard to truly assess what you want out of life when your heads in the clouds.

I also need to mention that I couldn’t have done this without my loving family, friends and wife. When I have doubts if I can do all my mind sets out to do, you are always there to keeping me moving in the direction of my heart.

And a very special thank you to all who have supported me in my journey of recovery over these last 8 years. If you or someone you know is struggling with alcoholism/addiction you can rest assured that there are countless, wonderful people that can and will help you through this struggle! Lord knows it wasn’t just the bees that helped me in mine.
